Frequently asked questions

The ten things shops ask us most. Don’t see your question? Reach out from your dashboard — real answers shape both this page and the product.

Can I change plans later?

Yes, any time from Settings → Plan. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated for the rest of your billing period, so you only pay the difference. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next period. Nothing you've built is deleted when you change plans — if a downgrade puts you over a limit (for example, more published products than the new plan allows), those items are simply unpublished until you're back under the cap.

What happens when I hit a tier limit?

You see an upgrade prompt at the point you hit the limit — for instance, when you try to publish a fourth product on the Shop plan. Your existing work is never blocked or lost; drafts and unpublished products don't count against the cap. You can either upgrade or free a slot by unpublishing something.

Can I migrate from another quoting tool?

Yes. Most shops start fresh because Joinwright is built around configurable CAD products rather than static line-item quotes, so there's usually nothing to import product-side — you upload your CAD and rebuild the configurator once. For contacts and historical quotes, you can bring in a CSV; on Studio and Foundry plans we'll help map your export. If you're mid-migration and need a hand, reach out from your dashboard.

How is my data secured?

Every shop's data is isolated at the database level with row-level security, so one tenant can never read another's products, quotes, or customers. Access to your workspace requires an authenticated, verified account that belongs to your shop. Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and customer-facing quote links are unguessable tokens you can revoke at any time. Superadmin platform access is separately gated and audited.

How are LLM / AI costs handled?

Auto-parameterization and the plain-language correction chat use an LLM, but you never see a metered AI bill. Usage is capped two ways: a hard per-plan budget that blocks further LLM calls once reached (so a runaway session can't rack up cost), and a per-request iteration ceiling. If you hit a cap you'll get a clear message rather than a surprise charge, and limits reset on your billing cycle. AI cost is included in your plan price.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Your quotes and contacts can be exported to CSV from their list views. Your CAD source files remain yours — you uploaded them and can download them back. Export is available on all paid plans; if you cancel, you'll have a window to export before your workspace is archived.

Do you take a percentage of my sales?

No. Joinwright is a flat monthly subscription per plan (Shop, Studio, Foundry) with no commission and no per-quote fee. What you charge your customers is entirely yours. The only usage-based limits are the product caps and AI budgets described above, and those gate features rather than skim revenue.

Can my customers use the configurator without an account?

Yes. Both the public product configurator (your-shop.joinwright.com/configure/…) and every quote share link are open to your customers with no signup required. They can configure options, see live pricing, and respond to a quote directly. Accounts are only for your shop's team.

What CAD formats do you support?

Mesh formats .glb, .gltf, .obj, and .stl; solid/CAD formats .step, .stp, and .iges; and 2D .dxf (extruded to a preview). Everything is converted server-side to a canonical glTF for the browser viewer, and large models are automatically compressed and given level-of-detail so they load fast for your customers.

How do I cancel?

Cancel any time from Settings → Plan — there's no lock-in and no cancellation fee. Your workspace stays active through the end of the period you've already paid for, and you'll have an export window before it's archived. If you're leaving because something's missing, tell us on the way out; it genuinely shapes what we build.
